The idea started with a ten-year-old boy named Jake Moores from Dr. S.J. Philips Public School in Oshawa. Jake believed it was unfair that some of his friends were unable to participate in organized sports and wanted to do something to help. Determined to make a change, for years, Jake had been giving up his birthday money so that his peers could join him in organized sports. This was a great start but Jake wanted to help more so he and his parents approached Their Opportunity with the idea to grow his efforts into a campaign to benefit many children in Durham.
“I am excited to be involved with the 7th Annual Dimes 4 Time campaign with Their Opportunity. Their Opportunity has helped so many kids through their efforts helping me help kids. Every year I step on the ice I meet so many new kids that have got to enjoy hockey like I do because they got help from Their Opportunity. Every year at school, I meet kid or kids that got to play the sport they love because we all got together and helped. I hope all the schools get a chance to come this year and see how much fun it is to help each other out. It really is unbelievable thing to see how much fun it is, and easy to help.” – Jake Moores
